Bob Marley & The Wailers 1973
I arrived in London at 11pm and had a bit of trouble locating Esthers Road but I finally found it arriving at her doorstep at 12:30pm. I knocked but no one seemed to be home, so made my way back to the high street only to bump in to Gian on the corner of the street. We greeted each other and he began to tell me about the history of the street not far from Esthers (round the corner). He explained that this area Chelsea used to be very poor and continued to explain how it became a very rich and a prime tourist spot in London.
We made our way back to the house chatting and feeling very completable with each other even though it was the first time we ever met. We spoke about my song, the radio interview I arranged before reaching the front door once again of Esther Anderson's home.
Inside was Esther I greeted her with a hug and I apologised for having to cancel the previous week and also arriving a little bit late because I was ringing the wrong buzzer! But she didn't mind she said she was glad that I had it to london and offered my refreshments before we took a stroll to the nearby restaurant for something to eat. She stopped on the way, on the same road where she lives and told me she was standing on this right spot chatting to her friend that lives across the road, and this man who recently moved in on her road told them to move away from his doorstep and asked them what they were doing around here!
Esther Anderson Miami
Esther said she told him 'Listen I'm Esther Anderson the film maker and I've been living on this road from the 1960's so don't you tell me were I should stand or talk on my road, when I have lived here way before you! She continued to explain that the man was clearly racist and he thought that black people shouldn't be around that part of London. She then went on to tell me that two robbers tred to burgle him home a few months later and he stood up to them and was stabbed and died.
We arrived at the restaurant and Esther ordered a salad while I settled for a coffee. She told me more about the film and that it recently won another award in Mexico and told me she was trying to get the film launched from the 02 Arena in London on the 6th Aug. She invited me to come along for the launch on the 6th and also said I could stay at hers if I don't have accommodation which I thought was pretty cool.
Bingiman Live Broadcast Chelsea London
We arrived back at the house were Gian was having a few problems with the MAC and had to purchase a new keybaord. He set up the computer and the lighting and we I got myself ready for the LIVE broadcast via Ustream. I was a bit surprised that I didn't feel nervous but was quite confident, I think it was Esther & Gian's warm welcome and all the radio interviews I did prior to that interview. Anyway we done the LIVE stream and it all went quite smoothly. I enjoyed the interview and I felt honoured to be sitting in a chair where famous artists, publishers and producers will also share there stories of contribution to this great film.
The Music Video
Gian and I also went out and took pictures in spots were Esther took pictures with Bob Marley, We also had to to shoot a music video to my track on the soundtrack 'Not Alright' We filmed on the Streets on london and also indoors. The video will be available on or after the release of the soundtrack CD which a release date has still not been confirmed.
After shooting the video I had a half hour to catch my train back to Birmingham. Esther was by the river with Mick Jaggers manager and some other friends so I didn't have time to say bye. I caught my train back to Birmingham at 7pm. I called Esther at 11pm to let her know I arrived back ok and to thank her for such an amazing day with an amazing person.
